Format: Paperback, 500pp.

Warren Rachele is a well-known Delphi developer and instructor who has written a number of critically acclaimed articles in the Delphi Informant.

Win32 Database Developer's Guide provides a comprehensive tutorial on the theory and nature of relational databases, including a full chapter on SQL, the language of choice for query functions and data manipulation. The book also includes a detailed analysis of the tools available to the database developer within the Delphi environment with special attention to the Borland Database Engine (BDE). Final chapters cover special topics such as use of the API, the API function reference, and coding techniques. Reporting is also reviewed in a separate chapter. The last section of the book is devoted to the BDE API including demonstration projects, plus reviews of connecting to Microsoft Access, as well as other Internet database services. The companion CD-ROM contains source files for the book as well as trial software.

This title will help you understand database theory, and database practice with Delphi. If you are Delphi database expert you will probably be disappointed. TClientDataSet and other MIDAS components is not covered at all which I believe is essential in a book that claims to be for advanced readers. Rachele's title does not contain interesting examples and comments.

In spite of the quality of others books of The Tomes Of Delphi, this book is not I hope of a ADVANCED book for programmers. If you are a beginner and want a comprehensive introduction to Delphi Database development then this book is for you.
