It is the middle of the night, and you're doing your favorite job, which is, of course, programming in Delphi. In the room: only you and your best friend - PC. While trying to stand up, after a very long piece of code, you realize that all your "friend" gave you was that horrible pain in the back.
OK, so now you are part of the 80% of the world population. But you can't imagine what you did wrong?
You are not some "back pain dummy", at least you didn't think so!
In fact you thought you've taken all measures to prevent that unpleasant pain.
It wasn't a long time ago when you've bought a new chair, learned all about posture, the proper way of sitting...
Nevertheless, for the next few days you will be, for a change, focusing on your health which is pretty sad because you are so late with your latest project - and your users can wait no longer.
Don't be desperate, together we will find quick relief and what is more important we'll learn how to avoid this episode again.
Treatment is very simple:
If it is not necessary don't rest in bed.
As soon as possible start with some exercises or if it is too painful then just walk.
You can take some painkillers.
Save one VB programmer by helping him to cross to the Delphi side of the street :).
Apply either ice or hot packs on the most painful areas (in an acute phase it's better to use ice!).
Now, you can only wait until the end of this nightmare.
While you're doing it, try to learn some facts about back pain prevention: do some exercises regularly (you can do that while you're sitting in front of your computer), avoid forward posture position by adjusting your monitor, from time to time ask you partner, friend or relative to give you a back massage, take care about weight and do some sport which is good for your back.
I hope that your back is better, but if your pain still exist after the few days, maybe it is time to see a doctor!
And remember, it's true that "money makes the world go round", but you can't enjoy the world without your health!
