Publisher: Made Simple Books  Buy it Now!
ISBN: 0750651881
Format: Paperback, 200pp

This Made Simple book is aimed at those who are new to programming, or new to Delphi. No previous programming experience is necessary, though familiarity with the use of Windows is assumed.

Although the book is based on Delphi 5, the general principles described also apply to versions 3 to 6, with only minor modifications. The book is a combination of tutorial approach, with tasks to do and practical examples explained in easy steps.

The book is divided in 12 chapters. The first few chapters will show you how to install Delphi, start the IDE and explain the main parts of the Integrated Environment. The next chapters are about visual part of programming in Delphi: Forms, Components, Coding events, Menus, etc. Delphi Pascal is described in chapters: Variables and Basic Instructions. Here beginners will find about units, statements and variable scope. Error handling, working with files and graphics in Delphi are also discussed. The last chapters are about databases and Internet. The author shows how to build a complete data aware application.
This book is easy to follow, jargon free with large fonts and excellent illustrations.

Delphi is a comprehensive programming environment and a book of this size can only give a brief introduction to the subject. However, the information in this book should be enough to give you a flavor of Delphi - powerful and easy to master, so even complex tasks can be finished surprisingly quickly.

Since the book is not over priced, I would suggest it to every beginner. This easy to follow guide is ideal for first time users of Delphi. If you already know what Delphi is and have some Delphi programming experience than buy the book and give it as a gift to some newcomer.
