JBuilder from Borland is the most comprehensive award-winning visual development environment for building applets, applications, JSP/Servlets, JavaBeans, and distributed J2EE applications for the Java Platform.

The "Learn Java with JBuilder 6", by John Zukowski, will help you learn how to become a productive Java developer using the most popular Java Ide: JBuilder (6). Learn to use many of the JBuilder wizards and JavaBeans, in JBuilder's drag and drop development environment, to build complex user interfaces with hands-on approach to language basics.

This book is for the beginner Java programmer looking to gain a foundation in the Java programming language. It's a learn-by-doing book that will help even the expereinced Java developers master their skills.

The book is divided into three parts, each part taking 1/3 of the book, each chapter consit of several "Skills", designed to help you grasp a part of Java development strategy.
The first part, Starting Out, is for new Java developers who are not accustomed to JBuilder's IDE. Beginners will also learn about Java applets and applications, Java syntax as well as basic object-oriented programming topics, and about the life cycle of a Java applet.
The second part, Digging into JavaBeans, starts with the exploration of Java bean basics, like configuring the Component palette and creating your own beans while delving into properties, events, customization and bean serialization.
The last part of the book, Advanced Skills, covers topics such as: deploying Java programs, working with menus, creating a JTollBar and internationalization. You'll also learn about multithreading and how to debug multithreaded programs.

The book is easy to read, with plenty of code listings and enough graphics to help you "see" Java development more clearly.

The book lacks any database development topics, nor it provides any Internet related "skills", it does, however, feature a chapter on JBuilder for wireless technologies. All in all I think this book is a great choice for new as well as intermediate developers as it sets high standard for a programming reference, one that will be appreciated by a wide range of readers.

CD-ROM Includes:
A 30-day Enterprise edition of JBuilder and unlimited use of the Personal edition, third-party JBuilder utilities (i.e., mouse wheel support), and a complete source code and examples from the book.
